Tumblr is the simplest to use and has the best social network, but its easy to get lost in the crowd. Plenty of templates and customisable CSS. Its also well integrated with other social networks such as Twitter, Flickr, etc.
Blogger has more customization I believe, editable CSS, widgets, etc. and does have some inbuilt social networking but I don’t think its as good as Tumblr’s but I have noticed its popular with other artists. However I always found that when I uploaded images it crunched the colours with poor compression.
WordPress can either be installed and hosted on your own server or through WordPress.com like Tumblr or Blogger. Via WordPress you need to pay to customize the CSS but I think you can still install some plugins. Its probably a bit more professional but not as fun to use as Tumblr. If its hosted on your own server however its the most customisable and probably the best option if that’s the way you want to go. I use WordPress on my own server and that way I can keep all my content hosted in the one place.
I have settled on using WordPress for my portfolio and Tumblr for everything else.
Hope that’s some help :)
